Last Week in Music | 09/16 – 09/23

Last week in Music ended up being kind of all over the place, I really wasn’t quite sure what mood I was in musically.
I read a review of Foreign Born’s new album last week, so I decided to check it out, and it turns it’s pretty good. The album is called ‘On The Wing Now‘, and it’s sort of a mixture of the lead singer of Cold War Kids, the music of Starsailor, with a splash of Lou Reed, for some reason. The album has a nice epic feel, with lots of layering, and his lyrics are really great as well, and are fun to song along with in the car.

Next up was The Radio Dept., who I talked about last Monday, and popped up yet again this week. I’ve only been listening to their first record, Lesser Matters, but I should probably check out their other ones and see how they are as well. A brand new one this week was the band Vetiver, who is fronted by Andy Cabic, and collaborates with Devendra Banhart and Joanna Newsome. I listened mostly to his first self-titled album. I gave his second album, To Find Me Gone a try, but I didn’t like it quite as much. His style is pretty folk-y, and it’s great driving to work in the morning music.

The rest of the stuff is pretty much the stuff I listen to everyday. I promise for a much more entertaining Last Week in Music next week!
