Not sure if everyone heard about this project or not but the folks over at Raw Design Studio have come up with a project called Christmas by Colour, which encouraged people to define the Christmas color spectrum by submitting Pantone colors with witty names. Well, they released the list of winning names… and I was on it! I honestly didn’t think I was really going to be a part of it, but my Too Much Eggnog was a winner! The poster is gonna feature a ton of the colors, all with lots of witty, fun names, so I’ll update everyone when they release it.
Update: You can purchase the poster for £10 by clicking here.
I got an email about the work of London based More Soon (aka Carl Burgess) yesterday and honestly at first, thought it was too weird for me. But I did some digging and ended up finding some real gems in his portfolio like the piece above called NTT Data Autoterminal. I have no idea if this all computer generated, I’m guessing it is, or if there’s bits of live video, but no matter what it’s pretty damn rad. You should also check out his home page which features this insane, textured orb that is constantly morphing and changing shape. That’s honestly the best way I can describe it, you’ll have to check it out for yourself.
Earlier tonight the awesome Jay Howell had a one night only print release party at the Fecal Face Dot Gallery where he was selling the crazy print you see above titled Here’s Some People. It measures 20 x 24″, comes signed in an edition of 50, and was only $75, which to me seems like quite a steal, especially at that size. I think this would look sweet in my living room, it’s too bad I wasn’t in SF tonight, but thankfully, the print goes on sale online Saturday, December 6th. Score.
A few weeks ago I saw Let The Right One In, a Swedish vampire film about a little boy named Oskar who ends up befriending a little girl named Eli (pronounced Ill-ee) that moves next door to him, who also happens to be a vampire. The story follows their growing fondness for each other, as well as how they start to change because of their friendship.
I absolutely adored this movie, it was so well done. The cinematography was absolutely amazing, with tons of beautiful blues and whites combined with deep yellows and reds. The pacing of the story was also really great, with lots of little twists and turns that kept the story moving and really interesting. There are some kinda cheesy parts, but I enjoyed those as well, like the movie didn’t take itself too seriously.
Overall I would say this is hands down the best vampire movie of the year, fuck Twilight and it’s teeny bopper shit, haha… If you get a chance to see this then do it, don’t waste the opportunity. Also check out the trailer under the cut, as well as a preview of the movie and an interview with the director Tomas Alfredson.
