This is fun! This is the short and mesmerizing trailer for the not-much-longer animation Modern No. 2 by Mirai Mizue. Mizue is a japanese animator and you can watch a mashup, or buy a DVD, of some of his work from the past seven years here. The hard-edged and orthographic drawings in this video look almost like architectural details or patterns shifting toward optical illusion. Mizue says:

“Using a sheet of graph paper, which is typically used for architectural drawings, I combined straight lines which
stretch out in three directions to construct the visual. I think that original fascination with animation is the limitations. To challenge the limitations, I started creating animation by using minimal elements. Apparently, it looks like computer graphics though it’s really digital animation drawn by hand.”
