Patrick O’Leary’s Stunningly Colorful Illustrations

Yetis by Patrick O'Leary Procrastination by Patrick O'Leary The River Thames by Patrick O'Leary

I came across Patrick’s work after he submitted an excellent cover for The Outsiders to the Re-Covered Books competition a couple of months ago. Living in Bradford in England, Patrick graduate from college last year and has been working hard on commissions, exhibitions and personal projects ever since.

I love the colors in his work and there’s also a terrific sense of energy in everything he draws. His picture of the River Thames (above) really captures some of the liveliness and verve of the city and it features plenty of fun nods to the capital’s landmarks as well as many of the cities sights and icons. I also can’t help but love the tragic addition of the Thames Whale, who looks to be having a lot of fun beside The Millennium Dome. There’s always something special about illustrations that carry or hint at some kind of narrative and that’s what I really love about Patrick’s work. See more of it on his website here.
