I came across these two images and thought they created a rather odd, but fun, narrative when combined. The top image is from Erik Marinovich, one of the type maestros from Friends of Type. The guy never fails to impress me with his brush skills, and well, the animated GIF really seals the deal on this one.
The second image is from Henry McCausland, and my attention was grabbed by the bright colors on this one. It also reminds me of the nights I lay awake and think about creative stuff, although I’m not usually on the floor when I do it. I found the image while digging through his Tumblr the other day, which to me feels like a slightly endless trove of inspiring images. There’s just something so dynamic about his work. It’s a combination of the angles he sets his pieces at, the presence of the figures he draws, and the way he controls his brush strokes.
Brilliant work from both parties.
