I’m really enjoying this video series by Matt Box called Acid Drops. The idea is that he takes a bunch of video footage of skateboarders and then translates them into trippy, watercolored shorts which are nothing short of beautiful. The one you see above features Dylan Rieder, an L.A. based skater who rides for Gravis.

I think Matt has a really good way of describing the video, saying “The second in a series of hand painted studies that aim to psychedelically capture the individual styles of influential skateboarders.” It’s hard to tell from the still images above, which look like abstract images of a skater, but once you can see the images in motion it really makes sense. I also think it’s great how the color shift as Dylan skates, like the horse of a different color from Wizard of Oz.
