This is the indoor pool at the Hotel Catell dels Hams which was recently improved by designers from A2 Arquitectos. The space appears white and serene (looking a little bit like a less complex version of the Les Bains des Docks by Jean Nouvel) but I would imagine the space takes on an entirely different, more energetic character when the space is full of people and the water isn’t a still and reflective plane, but rather a vibrant and wavy field.
That said, I think the photographs of the space are simultaneously stunning but misleading. I imagine some poor kid wanting to use the pool the day it was photographed and being told “I’m sorry, but the pool is being photographed and we can’t have anyone making waves in the water.” Maybe the poor kid isn’t so poor: I guess if you’re on the Spanish Island of Majorca, where the Hotel Castell dels Hams is located, you could make due with going outside and swimming in the Mediterranean.
