Teetering off the edge of UCSD’s Jacobs School of Engineering is Do Ho Suh’s lastest work, Fallen Star. The work appears to be a house that has landed in its precarious position after somehow being dropped from the sky. The work has actually landed there among 17 other works in the Stuart Collection, which populates the campus with neons from Bruce Nauman, stones from Richard Fleischner, a teddy bear from Tim Hawkinson, and several other works by celebrated artists. One surprise about the work is the manicured garden that welcomes visitors to the sculpture’s rooftop home. It almost looks normal… other than cantilevering 100 feet off of the ground at a angle.
