As some of you may know, The Fox Is Black isn’t the only blog I’m a part of, there’s also Los Angeles, I’m Yours. LAIY is the Los Angeles-centric version of The Fox Is Black, focused on the art, design, food, drinks and culture of the city I love and live in. The site is run by my partner Kyle Fitzpatrick who’s been in-charge of the site since we started it last October. His editorial voice is unlike any other out there, sharing the very best parts of Los Angeles on a daily basis. I’m really proud of how the site has grown and the foothold it’s taken in the city of Los Angeles, filling a void that was so clearly missing.
Last Friday though had to be our proudest moment, as we had a small feature in the most recent issue of Vanity Fair. This came about after we were asked by Vanity Fair to be a blog partner in their Oscar Week coverage, to which we said yes, mingling about old rich people and awkward celebrities. We drank a lot of free champagne, sure, but we also got some amazing stories out of it, seeing a side of Los Angeles that we don’t talk about (LAIY isn’t about celebrity culture or “Hollywood”) and giving our honest opinion of these coveted events.
As with The Fox Is Black, Kyle puts so much hard work into Los Angeles, I’m Yours and it’s already paying off 8 months into this endeavor. A lot of you write to ask me how you get to a “big blog”. Well there’s your answer. Do what you love, be consistent, and be passionate. Even if you’re not a Los Angeles resident, I highly suggest you check out Los Angeles, I’m Yours. It’s not only a source of amazing writing, but if you ever come to visit our fine city you’ll know exactly where to see amazing art and get a fantastic Manhattan.
