Introducing Our New Writer Andi Teran

Andi Teran

Looking for a new writer is always stressful business, except that sometimes it’s not. The idea of finding another person who appreciates the same things you do while still having their own unique perspective about the world, a perspective that’s both smart and clever… that’s tough. It also becomes tough when you get 79 applications from talented, vibrant, charming authors who say really nice things about you and the work you do and would love to be a part of it. It’s like going to a pet store and seeing that all the dogs are cute and cuddly and they all want you to take them home. The diversity of talent is also staggering. We’re talking about talented writers from Buenos Aires, India, Paris, Dublin, San Francisco, Peru and so many more incredible places. In the end though I could only choose one.

I chose an amazing writer named Andi Teran who I know will bring an incredible amount of quality to the site. Part of this reason I chose her was because I already knew her. Andi is the wife of my friend Hamish, who I’ve been friends with for about 3 or 4 years now. Until recently both Andi and Hamish lived in New York so we didn’t get to chat often. But when we did we’d have the best conversations. She would always light up with ideas about art or movies or music. Her demeanor was always positive, and radiant, and so excited about the beautiful parts of life.

These are the reasons why I think she’ll be great, but she’s also an extremely accomplished writer. To give you an idea of her pedigree, she’s written about music, film, and design for Vanity Fair, New York, Huffington Post, and Details as well as style for Vogue.com and MTV Style. Basically, she’ll be the most skilled writer on our entire staff. This is a part of the larger changes you’ll be seeing on the site in the coming months, focusing on making the site better in many ways.

Please welcome her to the site and enjoy her posts as she starts this week. I also need to give a huge thanks to all of those who applied for the spot. It’s so great to know that so many talented people care for this site so much.
