It’s always nice when a musician can find an artist to collaborate with, creating a music video that can visually represent what a song is trying to say. That’s the case with the partnership of Darren Hayman and Daryl Waller, musician and artist, who’ve worked together on the music video for a song called “Henrietta Maria”.

It’s a beautiful track that comes off of Hayman’s most recent album, The Violence. It kind of has a Decemeberists vibe, very mellow and with a simple structure, and some really great harmonies. To compliment it is Waller’s hand-drawn video, which I’d describe as charming. There’s a simplicity to the art which I feel matches the music so well. I think my favorite part has to be at 1:20 when the axe starts swinging and the wall of bricks begins to build up. There’s something so hypnotic about it.
