A beautiful collection of illustrated animals by Anna Boulanger

I seem to be making a habit of finding illustrators who I can’t seem to find any information about. Take for example this work by French illustrator Anna Boulanger. I discovered it on her blog L’atelier de la Petite Taupe Nyctalope… recently, but as I don’t speak French, I have no idea about the context or the stories behind the images. That said, I think they’re great and in many ways that’s all that really matters.

Her blogs title – L’atelier de la Petite Taupe Nyctalope… – translates as ‘The Workshop of the Little Night-blind Mole’ (I think), and it’s filled with beautifully detailed images of animals who often appear in surreal situations or unusual settings. Frequently her work is accompanied by philosophical quotes or little fragments from literature. I’d love to know more about them, but their mystery is also really appealing.

You can see more work from Anna on her blog here.
