It’s been a while since we’ve had a new music video from Michel Gondry. In fact, the French directors last dabble in the world of music promos was for Björk’s track “Crystalline” all the way back in 2011. Fortunately Gondry has returned, this time teaming-up with English four-piece Metronomy to bring his own distinctive vision to their new single “Love Letters”.
Shot in a single-take, the video sees the band stuck inside a painted set while a camera rotates around the outside. In typical Gondry fashion the video is fun, playful and filled with the director’s distinctive sense of whimsy. While it might not rank amongst his greatest works it’s still well worth a watch and Metrononmy’s song is wonderfully catchy.
“Love Letters” is taken from the band’s forthcoming album of the same name. It comes out March 10th on Elektra Records.
