Renaissance paintings on LSD. That’s the best possible way to describe the work of Christian Rex van Minnen. Born in Providence, Rhode Island and now living in Brooklyn, Christian takes the traditional notions of oil painting and twists them into some of the most bizarre and grotesque pieces of art I’ve ever seen. They’re brilliant (and you’ve been warned).

Created as a part of the Yours Truly and adidas originals “Songs from Scratch” series, this track from Nosaj Thing and Chance The Rapper has been on repeat for me all day long. “Paranoia” takes the laid back, atmospheric beats of Nosaj with the hazy flows of Chance floating gently over the top. Chance’s verses alternate somewhere between a melodic lullaby and a chaotic stream of consciousness. Nosaj’s beats are tender and abstract. Pairing the two together you get track that’s easy to get lost in.
Not to be outdone, the artwork for the single is pretty awesome. Designed by Mario Hugo, it features both Chance and Nosaj, though in a pretty distorted way, surrounded by all kinds of random objects. Here’s what Mario had to say about the piece.
Pleased to have directed and illustrated the single sleeve for this fantastic little track. The cover really spoke paranoia, and there are threatening little faces hidden throughout.

Mathy & Fran, a London based directing duo, have made maybe one of my favorite videos of the year. The video is for the song “Turn Me Out” by Russ Chimes, a disco/house track that’s a super fun jam. This is one of those tracks you can listen to on repeat while you’re getting ready to go out. Mathy & Fran have taken that vibe and created an artsy, performance video that combines modern dance with minimal backgrounds and odd set-ups.

Since Instagram’s release a little under two years ago (it’s only been TWO YEARS) it’s blown up to an unbelievable scale, serving millions of photos everyday. And while the apps features have continued to grow, there was one spot that hadn’t gotten any love since the apps release: the Instagram logo. That problem has now been remedied though thanks to the work of Mackey Saturday.

When it comes to posting about cars on TFIB, I tend to like ‘em weird. The last car I wrote about was Renault’s Twin’Z Concept car, which looks like some kind of a light up sea creature. Now I’m writing about the ME.WE, an electric car concept designed by Jean-Marie Massaud for Toyota.
