This looks so exciting! Marvel has decided to hook up with a bunch of “indie” artists such as Dash Shaw, Paul Pope, Johnny Ryan, James Kolchalka and Michael Kupperman for a Marvel Indie Anthology. Anyone who reads my blog knows of my art boner for Paul Pope, and I absolutely adore James Kochalka, but it’s too bad that the Hulk won’t get to drop a ton of f-bombs. Shown above is Dash Shaw’s version of Dr. Strange fighting Nightmare after he eats a poisoned bowl of alphabet soup! So rad!!

James Jean is probably one of the finest painters alive right now, and his covers for Fables are always stunning. Right now he has the cover to issue 65 on sale at eBay for a starting price of $4000. It’s totally worth every penny… so can anyone let me borrow 400,000 pennies?

There are few people on this planet that understand color better than Jordan Crane. The guy makes the most beautiful prints I think I’ve ever seen, even though most of his posters deal with death and misery. Not only that but he also writes and illustrates comics and stories for kids of all ages.
A few months ago I was fortunate enough to meet him at an art show he was having at Secret Headquarters. He was a super nice guy and we talked about the image above, on the right, and how he did the screenprinting,.
And on a final note, if you’re in LA, stop by Family and check out the wallpaper that lines the walls, it was also designed by Mr. Crane.
