This morning is looking to be video filled, so here’s the newest advertisement by Sony. As most of you remember they’ve thrown bouncy balls down the hills of San Francisco, done stop-motion rabbits, blasted tons of paint off of a building and now they’ve filled the streets of Miami with foam. I personally don’t think this ad is as striking as the other one’s, but it’s certainly a fun idea. While watching it I couldn’t help but think of how fun it would have been to hang out all day in all of that foam, especially if I was 10 years old again. I think it’s fun that Sony continues to do these large scale ads as well, hopefully they continue doing them and push the bar a little higher every time.
I know, I know, this is really old and everyone has seen this before. This is the ‘Sweded’ trailer for Be Kind Rewind, where Michel Gondry makes his own version of the commercial for his film. The only reason I’m posting it is because of the part where he sings the Ghostbuster’s theme. Can we talk about how effing brilliant that is?! I’ve literally had his little voice playing over in my head all day long. I’m guessing that it could possibly be more funny then the movie itself, though I haven’t seen it yet so I dunno. I just want to make a loop of him singing this over and over, is that too much to ask?
I don’t think there could be anymore C’s in the title of this post, haha…
Anyhow, the images above are one of Citroën’s new concept vehicles (yes, I’m teasing with another concept car) dubbed the C-Cactus. Physically it reminds me of cross between a Mini and Volkswagen’s Touareg, but sent from the future.
My absolute favorite part is the huge windows. When I was a little kid I used to draw cars that were basically bubbles so you could see in all directions. This is basically what my 8 year old self would have wanted. I also really like the details in the head and tail lights, and the metallic doors are pretty rad as well. The car is also designed as a hybrid, with a diesel and an electric engine to help with gas mileage. When you’re in the city, you can switch the car into ZEV mode (Zero Emission Vehicle) which relies purely on the electric motor, I’m guessing getting recharged during the times you brake.
Wieden + Kennedy have made yet another awesome Honda commercial, this time with a brainy edge to it. In the ad you follow a big group of people, a lot of them wearing lab coats, all of them looking rather smart, as they figure out puzzles, both big and small. The creativity of this commercial is pretty astounding, especially the giant Rubic’s Cube murals, and the car at the end. The sound editing is also really great, and you feel like you’re caught up in the fun as you watch.
