World War Robot Armstrong Lunar Defence Figures

Gah! Look at how cool these new World War Robot toys/action figure thingies are! These are a part of Ashley Woods comic book series World War Robot, and honestly they look exactly like their comic book counterparts. I’m not sure what to call these exactly, because they’re kind of like giant action figures with moving parts, but they’re also sort of like models.

These guys come in at a whopping 14.8 inches tall, and come in two different colorways, Shadow Guard and Lunar Camo. I prefer the Lunar Camo, personally. You can pick one up yourself for the meaty price of $250 each by clicking here.

‘Drugs/Complex’ by Tera Melos

This post is kind of a selfish one, I happen to know both parties it centers around. The band Tera Melos, which some of you are familiar with, is having it’s first Japanese release and tour starting in October. Because of this, they decided to redo the album art to their two EPs and release them as one long album called Drugs/Complex on Parabolica Records. The new album features the artwork of my roomie/best friend Garrett Vander Leun, which is actually a re-imagining of the original artwork in his own signature style. I love Garrett’s creepy, unsettling style. The teeth on that blue guy are amazing and the moles on the woman’s neck are totally gross.

Here are the Japanese tour dates for Tera Melos:

Oct 25 Kyoto – WHOOPEE’S
Oct 26 Osaka – CLUB QUATTRO
Oct 27 Nagoya – CLUB QUATTRO
Oct 29 Sendai – BIRDLAND
Oct 30 Niigata – CLUB RIVERST
Oct 31 Kanazawa – VAN VAN V4
Nov 01 Tokyo – FEVER

Lousy Livincompany 2009 T-shirts

Stefan Marx released some new summer t-shirts under his Lousy Livincompany line recently and I’m definitely into them. There’s something about the simplicity of his designs that really make me like these shirts, especially that mouse with “Lousy” written underneath him. Plus I’m in love with yellow shirts right now, in fact, I’m wearing right now. Click here to pick one up for yourself.

Kitsune Noir & Goopymart / Design-Your-Own Food Truck Contest

It’s been forever since I’ve done any kind of contest, mostly because I think they’re kinda cheesy, but they can also be quite fun. The idea for this contest came rather randomly. I was browsing through Flickr when I came across these amazing little papercraft taco trucks by an artist named Goopymart, aka Will Guy. I thought it would be rad if I got all of you to decorate these trucks in your own way, whatever you want, making a fleet of papercraft food trucks!

So here’s the deal. I want you to download the food truck template, and decorate it in any way you see fit. Create the food truck of your dreams, fill it with food, put crazy creatures hanging out the windows, the more creative the better. The best 10 entries will get posted on the blog, and there may even potentially be prizes… maybe I can get Chipotle to sponsor this contest, does anyone have any ins?

Click here to download the food truck template.
Click here to download the food truck as an Illustrator file.

You’ll have a month to send these to me, that’s September 12th.
Make sure your entry is the high-res version I’ve supplied you with, do not increase the paper size as it’ll be larger than a standard 8.5 x 11″ piece of paper. I’d also like a photo of your food truck all put together as well. If you fail to do these things you might not get picked, just warning you.

Please email all entries to [email protected] with the subject, “FOOD TRUCK!” I can’t promise that I’ll respond to everyone, but I’ll try to at least send you a quick thank you for entering. For some inspiration on the kinds of things you can create, be sure to check out Will’s previous trucks by clicking here. If you’re totally confused and have no idea what’s going on, feel free to leave a comment.

I can’t wait to see what you all come up with, this should be fun.
Also, a big thanks to Will for going along with me on this!

New Images from Destroy Rock City

Destroy Rock City, also known as Lee MIsenheimer, has been in my bookmarks for I can’t tell you how long, but it had been quite a while since he had lasted updated his portfolio site, which I thought was weird. So I decided to do a little digging, nothing fancy, but I was able to come up with a new Flickr site that Lee has been updating somewhat regularly since the beginning of July.

They definitely look like his traditional style of doing things, intense amounts of lines that make up his fantastic work. But it’s just nice to see that he’s still working and creating beautiful stuff. Check under the cut for a couple more images.
