This week’s Mixcast is a collection of my favorite songs from 2009. You’ll have seen a lot of these songs on other Mixtapes and Mixcasts but I wanted to make a definitive list, the creme of the crop, list of songs. It was kind of hard to narrow them down but I feel like this is a pretty good spread of songs I loved.

The Mixcast is also over an hour long, I decided to mix together a huge chunk of songs in the middle, so you’ll get about 50 minutes of continuous music. I hope you enjoy it and let me know if you think I missed anything, though I’m telling you right now I didn’t, haha…

Hey hey it’s Friday and I’ve got a new Mixcast for ya’. This weeks has a theme which is centered around female vocalists. I heard Nico singing the Velvet Underground song I’ll Be Your Mirror in an optics shop a couple weeks ago and that was the start of it. Basically these are just some of my favorites songs by lady singers.

For the artwork I went for something that might appeal more to women, something kind of Anthropologie feeling. I really like that it’s so different from last week’s art which was very dark and forebodding, while this is fun and energetic.

Can you believe it’s already Friday? I should currently be relaxing with a full belly of Thanksgiving treats and enjoying the company of my family, hopefully you’re doing something similar.

This week’s mix was created in a bit of a hurry, but I think it turned out pretty well. I approached this week’s mix a little bit differently, creating a big chunk of songs in the middle which go for about 36 minutes or so. Let me know if you prefer this format or if I should continue breaking up the Mixcasts like I have in the past. I hope you enjoy the mix and let me know if anything catches your ear!

It’s Friday! This week’s Mixcast is both fun and kind of silly. It’s fun because there’s a theme, which about oceans, beaches, water, surfing and those kinds of things. The reason is because I’ve noticed that a lot of bands these days are taking their names and titles of songs/albums from these sorts of themes. For the past 10 years or so it was animals, but I think that’s starting to change…

The reason the mix is silly is that I honestly don’t know a lot about these bands, they’re all pretty new and I never really had a good chance to learn about them yet. So if I sound like a fool you have my sincere apologies. I guess it’s also kind of silly because I basically made a summer album in the middle of winter… well, it was 70º again here in LA, so I suppose I have a good reason.
