Trying to keep the momentum this year with The Build Up, my buddy Jon Setzen and I are back with a new episode, amazingly our ninth. Thanks to our brand new recording studio at Maker City LA we’re still sounding sharp despite the few drinks we may have had. Here’s the rundown from this episode.

• Being artsy in Los Angeles (and on Twitter)
• A long winded discussion about the mass migration from NY to LA
• The light in LA is the best
• Facebook Paper is a step forward
• Chatting about Reporter, a new app from Nicholas Felton
• A list of emojis missing from iOS 7
• Music from Sylvan Esso, Mogwai, and Father John Misty

It’s a new year and Jon Setzen and I are back with a brand new episode of The Build Up. We’re back to our usual antics, talking about design, websites, apps, the morals of technology music and lots more. We drink a lot of Einstök, a lot of cookie eating, and thanks to our new studio at Maker City LA, we sound super legit the whole time. Here’s a recap of what we spoke about.

• New Years recap (we didn’t encounter any polar vortexes)
• Jon speaks about the Mediatemple redesign
• Huge, Big Spaceship, and The New York Times also get new year redesigns
• Going quiet in 2014… like a monk?
• I just sent myself a Woof
• We speak about Craig Mod’s article and the slow death of the camera
• Trying out Storehouse, an iPad first photo journal
• Google buys Nest
• Her is an amazing movie
• Music from Steve Gunn, John Maus, and London Grammar

It’s long overdue, but my good friend Jon Setzen and I are back with a new episode of The Build Up. If you haven’t listened to The Build Up before it’s a super casual conversation between Jon and I (he’s the creative director of Media Temple) where we eat, drink, and chat about a variety of topics that interest us like design, apps, music, and the such. In this episode we do a lot of catching up and getting deep with our feelings.

• London, lobster ice cream, turning 31
• Changes are coming to TFIB
• Yahoo! and their logo redesign – will it help?
• Thoughts on the proper use of iconography
• Inspiration quotes from uninspiring people
• We talk about iOS 7 even though we said we wouldn’t
• We heart VSCO Cam
• What the hell is the point of LinkedIn?
• Your Klout score is 20% of your Klout score
• Is sharing photos on Instagram a sad or amazing thing?
• Ranting about the modern state of photography
• People with kids are the worst people on social networks
• Selfies
• Woody Allen is awesome
• Ways in which we clear our thoughts
• Music from King Krule, Shlohmo, and Washed Out

My good buddy Jon Setzen and I had a long chat last night about all sorts of wonderful things, and thus, we have a brand new episode of The Build Up. We’ve been pretty busy since our last podcast so we had quite a number of things to speak about. Let’s see how much hate mail we get!

• Stealing on the Internet
• Bobby rants about not being able to go back in time
• You’re gonna get what you give
• SXSW was pretty great this year
• Icelandic adventures
• Formal Design Education Is Necessary for Practicing Designers. Yea or Nay?
• Is Vine still cool?
• Good magazines we’re into
• With music from New Radicals, The Aislers Set, Rhye, Devendra Banhart, and Cayucas

We’re finally back with a new episode of The Build Up, featuring myself and good buddy Jon Setzen. Thankfully Jon defeated his sinus infection so that we could continue bringing you snarky, beer fueled commentary about design, technology, music, food, etc. Here’s an overview of what we spoke about in this episode.

• The joys of using Vine
• Cool people to follow on Vine
• Thoughts about the BVD rebrand of 7-11 (putting lipstick on a pig)
• Ugh, nostalgia fueled design
• Yay, Harvard Books redesign
• The forward thinking of Billboard
• Musicians making millions
• Everybody’s working for the weekend
• Comments on websites, connecting through social media
• Food week on TFIB
• Damon Albarn is seriously under-appreciated
• Creative Mornings, Joe Stewart and the sandwich as a design metaphor
• People hate change
• Palm Springs is amazing and I wish I was still there
• Kyle’s epic 2012 music round-up
• Music from My Bloody Valentine, Christopher Owens, Damon Albarn & Malian Musicians and Pure Bathing Culture
