Erin Hilleli created this beautiful video called Bear Behind which was created for his graduation at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design. The video was inspired by his childhood and features some really amazing imagery. What does any of it mean? Well, I’m not 100% sure, but it’s certainly engaging to look at. The style of the video reminds me a lot of the illustrations of Matthew Lyons, I totally think they should get together and make some amazing cartoons.

It looks like Warner Bros. is trying to make a comeback with a new CG version of a Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner cartoon called Coyote Falls. I always wondered why they didn’t try to rebuild the Looney Tunes brand in some way, either with something like CG or having a unique illustrator rethink the characters.
The clip above looks really promising, I’m actually quite excited to see the whole episode. It still feels like the classic Looney Tunes style but the computer graphics definitely give it a new, exciting feeling. I’m even inclined to say that something like the clip above would be amazing to see. In 3D, and I’m one of those guys who hates 3D.

When I was in my teens I was harshly dubbed by a member of my family as “an advertising whore.” This family member – who shall remain nameless – was quite clearly referring to how I am easily seduced by both print and television advertising and even went so far as to list various examples of this behaviour. I’d like to think that I am now wiser and less likely to fall prey to the charms of my capitalist suitors, but I must admit that I am rather besotted with this advertisement for Hookturn Industries BYO reusable coffee cup.
Yes, it only took one look at the cups’ simple silicone design and the cute Melbourne cafe location and I was gone. Plus, their environmentally friendly ethos really tickles my fancy too. I guess old habits die hard.

Yesterday was a great day for those who believe in equal rights for all as California’s Prop 8 was overturned by Chief US District Judge Vaughn Walker, deeming it unconstitutional. This reminded me of the short video Devin & Glenn: Make Gays Marry, which shows a much more realistic view of married life. The video was directed and written by Will Speck and Josh Gordon and stars Justin Long (the Mac guy) and Mike White (writer extraordinaire) as a gay couple who meet, fall in love, get married and then experience the “hardships of being married”. Totally hysterical and honest video that’s worth a watch.

I’m totally in awe of this new Missoni ad directed by short film maker Kenneth Anger. I wasn’t very familiar with his work but after reading about him on WIkipedia, which is a pretty epic entry, the guy sounds amazing. He’s made a ton of short films in his life (he was born in 1927!), most of which have created quite a stir. He was also friends with people like Mick Jagger and Jimmy Page, who even created the music to some of his movies.
Well at the age of 83 Mr. Anger has created this beautiful short film for the Italian fashion houes Missoni. The short is a beautiful collage of images, ranging from beautiful women in patterned gowns, falling water, flowers blooming and moons rising… very Anger-esque imagery. It seems like Missoni is trying to brand itself as something much more edgy, as they just had Juergen Teller shoot their spring/summer 2010 campaign. I’m all for it, personally, I think they’re creating some wonderfully weird stuff.
