FRANK | FOOD

Happy Monday everyone! I was totally surprised to see that you all enjoyed my last food post so much, so I thought I’d sort of follow it up with something else that I’ve been enjoying in a similar vein, a little blog called FRANK | FOOD. For the record, Frank is one of my very best friends. But he’s also the best damn cook I know.

Because of his amazing skills in the kitchen and good taste in food in general, I decided to help make him a blog where he could write about and show off all the delicious things he creates, as well as any other delicious foods and drinks he comes across. Frank hosts a pretty regular dinner every Sunday night at his house, and I’m thankfully invited quite often, and all I can say is the man is a genius. Reading his blog I get totally inspired and excited, as it features photos of all his creations and finds as well as recipes for some of the larger meals. He also updates it regularly, usually every day or two, so you can check in often to see what he’s cooking up!

I hope you enjoy seeing what Frank is creating as I much as I enjoy eating it!

Apartment Baking: Impromptu Chocolate Chip Cupcakes

I was a little bummed that I didn’t get to make cupcakes this weekend due to the power outage, so tonight I asked my roommate if he’d be down to eat a chocolate chip cupcake and he was REALLY excited about it. So at 9 pm I decided to bust out the baking supplies and bake me up some delicious cupcakes!

This was honestly my second attempt at making cupcakes, so I found some Martha Stewart recipe online and retrofitted it into something that: A) Fit the ingredients I had and, B) Sounded really good. So I threw it all together, including some Ghiradelli chocolate chips that were on sale at that store that sounded delicious. After 45 minutes of work (and waiting) I pulled them out of the oven and they were actually turned out perfect! I was a little worried, the last one’s were cooked a little bit too long, but I made sure to not overdo this batch and they were a success.

My roommate and I sat down with two giant cupcakes and a glass of milk each and devoured the damn things. I have to say, the chocolate chips all melted inside were quite a treat, almost a surprise! I guess the blogs tagline is ‘Eat. Drink. Design.’, so this sort of fits in with everything else, right? Anyhow, as a treat for reading this far… did you know I have a super secret project coming up with 5 amazing artists and designers that will be available this summer? And that you’ve never seen anything like it before? Well, now you do.

Aparment Baking: Red Velvet Cupcakes

I haven’t really posted about my new apartment much, but I’m definitely going to once it starts looking better. It’s only been about two weeks now, but things are looking pretty great except for the living room, which is pretty barren. Anyhow, I made a decision when I moved that since I now had an oven, that I would start baking every weekend. I’ve never really been a baking kind of guy, but I have serious baking-envy because of my friend Frank who is the best cook that I know.

So I was going to bake chocolate chip cupcakes, but the power went out on my block for most of Saturday afternoon so it didn’t happen. But last weekend I made the awesome red velvet cupcakes you see above. I got the recipe off of FoodNetwork.com so it wasn’t very special, but it worked. The recipe was one of Paula Dean’s, and even though I think she’s the most annoying little troll on earth, they ended up being fairly easy to make. Overall they turned out okay, though I think I cooked them a little too long, but my roommate and best friend Garrett ate 4 of the 6 of them anyhow.

If anyone has any good recipes that I should try let me know! I want to bake all the time, it’s become my new addiction!
