The Summer Never Ends by Jens Lekman

I figured the best way to send everyone into the weekend is through a new mixtape, though this one is by one of my favorites, Jens Lekman. Just so we’re clear, I don’t know Jens Lekman at all, but I wish I did because I think he’s amazing. Anyhow, he’s created this clever little mixtape to get you through the hottest part of the year. On it is a hodge podge of new and old, including a brand new song of his (I only know this because I saw him perform it live), lots of samples from his previous albums, and an awesome conversation with Alicia Keys. Here’s the tracklist, as provided by Mr. Lekman:

(excerpt from) The Summer Never Ends /// I Really Think That We Can Make It Girl /// Nicolette Larsson – Lotta Love /// The Embassy – State 08 /// (excerpt from) New Directions /// Coke Escovedo – I Wouldn’t Change A Thing /// Filippo Trecca – La Morte Dell’erminia /// His name is Mikael Carlsson, her name is Alicia Keys /// Lamont Dozier – Blue Sky and Silver Bird /// Cat Stevens – If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out /// Jeff Perry – Love Don’t Come No Stronger /// Good News – Australia /// Baby’s Gang – America /// American Breed – Always You

You can listen to the mix by clicking the player above or you can download it by clicking here.

The Easy Rider Collection by Emil Kozak

Just in time for summer the awesome Emil Kozak has released a new set of t-shirts and accessories to jazz up your style. There are several new shirts, like Easy Rider and Acid Rain above, which come in some different colorways and some of his classic tees which also come in new colorways. He also has some rather adorable and amazing jewelry which are shaped like clouds and a tiny whale. I could probably just wear Emil’s work all the time and be happy as a clam.

The Desktop Wallpaper Project featuring Ana Benaroya

The Desktop Wallpaper Project featuring Ana Benaroya

Ana Benaroya

Hey everyone, sorry for the lack of wallpapers for the last two weeks. I still have a ton of wallpapers to give away, in fact I’m going to have an ultra-crazy project coming up hopefully, so keep your eyes peeled for that. This weeks DWP artist is the lovely Ana Benaroya, a Baltimore artist who’s work is totally cheeky and fun. She has this really great European kind of style to her line work, and her color choices are always really loud but totally work. If you haven’t seen her work before you should definitely check it out.

I figured today was a good day to post her wallpaper because of how hot it is here in Los Angeles, so lots of buff dudes in speedos seem fitting. I laughed pretty hard when I saw this, and my favorite parts are the guy with the eyes and lips on his ass, and the pink guy with his long ponytail. So awesome.

I also just wanted to point out that I didn’t create a 1024 x768 or a 1280 x 1024 because I didn’t want to crop into her work. You can still download these other sizes though and your computer will figure it out.

Delicious Egg Salad Sandwich with Avocado

Instead of doing posts about awesome art and design, I’ve been busy making food. I don’t think many of you come here for my random food posts, so I apologize to pretty much everyone for this slight distraction. Anyhow, last night I was totally craving an egg salad sandwich, out of effing nowhere. I ran to the store, bought a dozen eggs, came home, and then realized I had no bread. Awesome.

So I woke up today with a mission to make the most delicious egg salad sandwich ever… and I totally did. This little beauty had egg (duh), mayo, green onion, dill, salt, pepper and a some red chili pepper flakes for a tiny kick. I also happened to buy some avocados while I was at the store, so they managed to find a way onto my sandwich as well. The bread is a dark rye which I lightly toasted because I hate hard bread, it scrapes the roof of my mouth every time and makes me sad. I ate this sandwich so damn fast, and I wanted to make and eat another one immediately after.

I’ve decided to make these more often this summer, they totally remind me of my childhood, my mom would make these all the time for me. Here’s to more summer food posts!

TOMS Summer Collection

I’ve been meaning to buy a pair of TOMS for about a year now, I think they’d make such awesome summer shoes, yet I keep forgetting. Then I got an email yesterday announcing that they have some web exclusive shoes for this summer only, reminding me yet again that I still don’t have. But I really like these new ones they’ve released, the colors are really awesome… if you’re a girl. As a boy I don’t think I could ever try pull off a pair of striped pair of alpargatas, nor would I ever try. I really like the salmon colored ones, the canary ones, and the blue and white striped ones.

As always, when you buy a pair of TOMS, they give a pair away to a child in need, so you’ll look hot this summer and help someone out at the same time.
